Homework, homework, homework. There is ridiculously so much of it. In this digital age, the world is right at our fingertips beckoning us to join the journey to discover anything and everything. The temptation to go on YouTube or Instagram is too much to handle. Here are 4 awesome tips to help you stay motivated and concentrated on homework.
1) Say No to Distractions.
This is probably the most obvious tip but not all of us are willing to do it. Switch off your phone. And if that’s not enough, put it downstairs in a cabinet so you aren’t tempted to go retrieve it (this actually works pretty well!).If you don’t need the computer, shut it down and close the lid.
Study sessions with friends usually turn into a party session. Unless you know that your friend is super focused and smart, don’t study or do homework with them! You’ll just end up taking endless selfies, choosing music to play, and just wasting time.
Declutter your work-space to decrease distractions. Try to have all the materials you will need organized on you desk. A trip to fetch the scissor or stapler might last an hour because you get distracted by something (usually food for me:D)
2) Change Your Environment
Try going to the library. Studying at your desk can be super boring and distracting. I use to to go downstairs and do my homework on the dining table because I knew I wouldn’t do any funny business while my mom was near me.
3) Motivational Quotes
If you are obsessed with motivational quotes like me, your going to love this! Take a sticky note and write a quote down. Doing a simple search for “Motivational Quotes” on Google pictures will give you so many inspiring options.
Paste the quote onto the side of your computer or somewhere you will see it. If you are tempted to go on YouTube or get distracted, just read the quote again and remind yourself to focus. Make sure to change up the quote every day so it won’t lose the effect.
4) Take Breaks (Pomodoro Method)
Reward yourself and take short breaks! I don’t think any of us are able to study for 4 hours straight without wanting to bang our heads onto the wall. I recently stumbled upon the Pomodoro Method which basically breaks down work time into 25 minute intervals with 5 minute breaks. You can use a kitchen timer or I like to use an online Pomodoro timer. It really helps manage time and improve efficiency because you know that all you have to do is focus hard for 25 minutes and then you will get a break to do anything you like. This is such an awesome tip and I hope you all will give it a try!
